ENGAGING OUR STAKEHOLDERS
Sedibelo understands that our reputation and ability to create shareholder value is contingent on our ability to engage meaningfully with our communities and other relevant stakeholders. Our key stakeholders are the communities in our area of operation, government, civil society, shareholders, employees, unions, suppliers, industry bodies and the media.
We engage through various platforms such as regular community employment forum meetings, regulatory meetings with government, monthly newsletters and shareholder meetings.
BUILDING LOCAL COMMUNITIES
Sedibelo was set up in cooperation with the BBKTA. The BBKTA is an unencumbered 25.7% shareholder in Sedibelo and is entitled to seats on the Board. The BBKTA is also the custodian of the communal land on which our mining rights are located.
Our relationships with our local communities are not limited to the BBKTA. We also interact with local communities through a variety of structures including regular employment, local procurement and development forums.
OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES STAND TO BENEFIT FROM SEDIBELO’S OPERATIONS THROUGH:
UNENCUMBERED SHAREHOLDING HELD
by the BBKTA with full net realisable value
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
About two-thirds of the mine’s employees are drawn from the Moses Kotane Local Municipality

HRD INVESTMENT FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES (2019 – 2022)
SOCIAL INVESTMENT AND MINE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Mine community development (MCD) projects are designed to improve quality of life and create conditions for development in the communities around the mine. In terms of the Mining Charter, MCD is focused especially on local infrastructure and income generating projects.
We aim to optimize our social investments and ensure that our projects make a tangible difference over time.
OVER THE PAST FOUR YEARS, WE HAVE SPENT OVER R67 MILLION ON MCD.
Some of our MCD investments over the past three years have included:
